One of the hallmarks of Stanford is its foundational commitment to provide, in the words of Jane Stanford, "an avenue whereby the deserving and exceptional may rise through their own efforts." Undergraduate scholarships represent a core value that is woven into the very fabric of Stanford, and we remain just as dedicated to it today as were our founders. This is an expensive obligation, but one that we are absolutely resolved to meet and to maintain. Stanford remains underendowed for financial aid compared to our peers.
Stanford is one of a small group of colleges and universities committed to need-blind admissions. We now seek to redouble that commitment, lowering the financial burden on low-income families and extending need-based aid to international students.
